PA of the Year 2009
California's Karen Kushner is the 5th annual Family Practice PA of the Year.
Welcome
Welcome to the November 5, 2009, edition of the ADVANCE for Physician Assistants e-Newsletter.

This week's top story announces the winner of the 5th annual Family Practice PA of the Year competition, California's Karen Kushner, PA-C. In 2006, Kushner helped establish the Shalom Free Clinic in Chico, Calif., with a mission of providing underinsured and uninsured children and adults with health screenings, primary care interventions, health services and education, all free of charge. For her inspiring commitment to serving the community, Kushner will be honored at this year's AFPPA conference in Phoenix, Ariz.

Our new PA Specialty Certification blog continues to generate discussions about this hot topic in the PA profession. Every Monday the blog is updated with a new post from a PA with an opinion -- pro, con or neutral -- about the NCCPA's push for specialty certification. Visit the blog each week and feel free to comment on the posts. If you would like to contribute, please send your blog entry to me, assistant editor Heather Simons. We would love to hear from you!

As always, we encourage your feedback. E-mail editor Michael Gerchufsky or senior associate editor Terri Schaefer.

Thanks for reading!
