I have been a PA for 10 years, with background in Neurosurgery and currently plastic surgery. Looking for a part-time position as a surgical assistant. Wondering what is an approp. salary?

I still feel we are all underpaid for the amount of work and responsibity we have taken on over the years. Though we are not physicians, our salaries and benefits are meager comparatively and do not reflect the expertise we bring to the practices we work for.

Could u pl give average salary for PA in psychiatry with 10yrs experience in family practice and 2yr experience in psych. Thanks

I would be interested to know the number of responses from several of the highest ranked states. I believe that NV, MS, RI and several of the others near the top of the list are based on a much smaller number of survey responses. This is not necessarily representative of the actual averages for those states.

In the last 10 years, I have worked in 4 different states, in medicine and surgery. These numbers reflect roughly what I have been paid in those different states (accounting for adjustment for inflation in the earlier jobs).

I agree with a specialty and state breakdown of salaries. There is a big disparity between medical and surgical professions, but is a good starting point though.

I agree with some of the comments about these seeming to be inflated. The disparity is from surgical specialties to primary care, which I believe to represent $20-30K difference. Why can't the salary surveys be broken down by state, specialty and years of experience? Also all surverys should be based on 40hrs per week.

Having worked in private practice and academics in numerous specialities over the last decade, these numbers seem fairly accurate. I believe that specialty PA's are likely over-represented in the very high mean pay states.

I totally agree with the inflated group!! The guys who are meeting the average please tell me how you got those numbers!!

These salaries seem to be extremely inflated to me. There definitely seems to be some factors not fully explained in these findings. These might perhaps include a lack of survey responders from the lower end of the salary spectrum PAs and/or the inclusion of those who moonlight in a second position and report their income without specification.

I make exactly the number posted and I feel underpaid! I am currently seeking other employment and relocation! Thank you Pennsylvania!

i have been a pa for over 20 years and have NEVER made close to what the surveys indicate are average salaries. that covers six jobs, both inpatient and outpatient, general and specialty, in urban, suburban, and rural areas.

From my employment experience in 3 states over the past 4 years, those states' salaries seem fairly accurate.

I am making exactly $999 more then the average for my state. I have 4 yr experience and work in spine surgery.

Not sure who's smoking what, but those are badly inflated figures. From what I gather from co-workers and classmates, by about 20+K across the board, including other states.

Wow....I am seriously underpaid.
